For Sale: baby shoes, never used.

According to legend, that was the story that Ernest Hemingway wrote in just six words.   Apparently he was challenged by colleagues to craft a story in just six words (or was the challenge ten...?), and thus he wrote "Baby Shoes."

And the legend lives... many a website exists to this six word story challenge.  NPR occasionally broadcast "The Race Card" where people write in six words, their thoughts and feelings about race.  So my point is this has been done before, but I am going to do it again.  In this blog of random bursts of creativity, I will include my own six word stories.  If you, dear intrepid reader, would like to submit your own stories here, please feel free to.  Someday I will figure out how to make this a little more user friendly for adding submissions just in case any one out there is so inclined.  Until them, I respectfully submit the following stories.  I am, however, slightly modifying my stories by giving them titles which of course adds a little more to the story... provides some direction.  Here you go!

Structure postings...

Okay, as I mentioned in the first post, about 2 minutes ago, I am in a class called Creativity Concept Development and I will be posting frequently for this. For one assignment I am trying to find a word a day out of Harold McGee's "On Food and Cooking" and somehow illustrating the word.  I am using some patterns and lettering styles I found through a website for Sakura Micron pens... Joanne Fink is the artist.

Anyhow, my first go was just using the dictionary where my first random word was Shandygaff... a drink that is half beer and half ginger-ale.   Sounded lovely.  That is when I got the idea to focus more on a food type dictionary (or Bible in McGee's case).  My first random word was Whisky (Scothc or Irish... no "e" in the speling).  And just like that, there was a theme.

I am posting pictures of my first attempts.  The first being the SHAND of shandygaff... them a couple of the Whisky.  On that note... Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

Cheers!!

Let's do this thing....

I know I need to post a description to what this blog is all about, and that WILL happen soon, but for now consider this a device to capture my attempts at becoming more creative.  Yes, this is attached to a class I am taking (Hello all ICD-500ers!!), but wouldn't it be great if this grew legs and continued long after the class... both the blog AND the increased creativity in our daily lives...??  I think so.

Now I know I should not start with an apology, but I am going to anyway.  I'm sorry.  Some of the stuff I am posting will be complete crap and there will be ideas that I may have swiped from other people.  I will do my best to give credit where it is due.   Also I have no idea what will be showing up here... some drawings, a recipe or two, maybe some random writings and thoughts... we shall see.  It's my blog and I am going to try and have some fun with it.  I will also be fiddling around with the format and layout of the actual blog so bear with me...

That said, I am also going to use this as a vehicle for some of my class assignments and postings.  If you DO happen to find this site and have thoughts... like something, think it's junk, have any ideas... let me know.

Cheers!
